Description

Abdu'l-Baha, the leader of the Baha'i Faith, was invited to visit Green Acre, in Eliot, during his trip to North America in 1912.

Sarah Jane Farmer, one of the owners of the Green Acre facility, visited Abdu'l-Baha in Palestine years earlier and had become a Baha'i in the meantime. Abdu'l-Baha gave a number of talks during his stay at Green Acre.

Sarah Jane Farmer bequeathed the Green Acre facility to the Baha'is of the United States, and today it serves as a conference center for the Baha'i community.
